Understanding the Importance of a Halal Certification

One would make sure that all processes are halal certified only if they are able to understand the value of pursuing a halal certification. Islamic law strongly values all life, including human and animal life, because it is a gift from God and is therefore precious and valuable. Only in the name of Allah SWT and in order to ensure human survival may life be taken. Any life taken for human survival that is not done so in the name of Allah SWT is regarded as haram (unlawful and unpermitted).

To produce halal meat and poultry, one must adhere to Islamic rules in order for the finished product to be halal (permitted and lawful).

There are a few halal certification bodies in the US :

  1. Al Nur Truly Halal Services(Ant8s)
  2. The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA)
  3. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)
  4. The Islamic Services of America (ISA).
  5. American Halal Foundation
  6. Halal Transactions of Omaha
  7. HFSAA (Halal Food Standards Alliance of America)
  8. ISWA (Islamic Services of Washington Area)

Why Get Halal-Certified?

Being Halal-certified is essential as the market for halal products expands in order to gain consumers’ respect and trust. Companies with halal certification have access to both Muslim and ethical customers. The reputation and value of halal-certified products as being wholesome, natural, and having fewer ingredients are major factors in why buyers pick them.

Wondering How to Get a Halal Certification?

Certification involves the following steps :

  • Application :

You are under no cost to apply to ANT^S. During the documentation process, your designated Ant8s account executive will coordinate with the ant8s technical team to document and verify the Halal compliance of your production and the production facility. Upon approval, we will establish a Halal Agreement.

  • Audit :

Your Account Executive will arrange for a Halal audit on a day that works for both parties. This audit could be carried out virtually. Employees in charge of Halal production attend a training session during the audit, which usually lasts 4 hours. The main goal of the audit is to ascertain whether and to what extent everything that has been documented is in use. To understand the rules and procedures in place for the Halal program, a staff person from the private label brand must be present during the Halal training for private label applications.

  • Certification :

Your Halal certification documents will be delivered once the Halal audit has been completed successfully. Congratulations! Now that your facilities and products have received formal Halal certification, they are acknowledged globally. The most recognizable mark of sincerity, authenticity, and wholesomeness in the world will be on your products. In the future, get in touch with your Account Executive to add services or facilities.

  • Responsibilities and Roles :

To run and maintain an efficient Halal program, there must be excellent cooperation and communication on all levels between the private label brand and manufacturer. The tasks and obligations of each party are listed below in further detail.

  • Contract Manufacturer:

Maintain an impartial internal “Halal Committee” in charge of monitoring Halal production.

Sign the ANT^S Halal Agreement, which outlines the conditions for maintaining Halal certification.

Inform us in advance of any significant changes to suppliers, ingredients, or production methods.
